FH 39  Pocket Dosimeter

The traditional QFEs (quartz fibre electrometers) are still useful tools for some applications in health physics . The gamma and x-ray dose is measured with an ionisation chamber powered by a charged capacitor and can be viewed any time.

 

FH 39 dosimeters are available in three versions:

FH 39 EP 0 ... 50 mSv 45keV ... 3 MeV
FH 39 RP   0 ...  2 mSv 18keV ... 3 MeV
All three versions are type tested by PTB Germany for official calibration

For operation a charging unit FH 390 T1A is required. The nominal voltage required to 'set the dosimeter to zero' is adjusted with a potentiometer.
A test source with (333 kBq Cs-137) FH 390 K is available to check the correct function of the low range dosimeters. Three dosimeters can be checked simultaneously
